Yes, Cecily Strong is pregnant and has made her return to 30 Rock, and this time she’s expecting a baby.
The former Saturday Night Live star, who is pregnant with her first child, came back to the NBC show for its 50th anniversary special on Sunday. Strong, 41, showed off her baby bump while wearing a black dress on the red carpet.
She later appeared on Weekend Update, where her pregnancy was part of the sketch. Strong reprised her character, “the girl you wish you hadn’t started a conversation with at a party.” She started the segment by rubbing her belly and asking, “Notice something different about me?” When Weekend Update host Michael Che asked if she was pregnant, she responded, “Wow, you just assume I’m pregnant, just because I have a baby inside me?”
Her character went on to joke about whether she really wanted to “bring a baby into this world” or “keep her in here for another three-and-a-half years.”
The sketch revealed that the father of the child was none other than Drunk Uncle, played by Bobby Moynihan. Colin Jost expressed surprise that Drunk Uncle was going to be a father, and Drunk Uncle replied, “Hey, if Alec Baldwin can do it.”
Strong, who was an SNL cast member from 2012 to 2022, announced in November that she was “very happily pregnant from IVF at 40.” She shared that she was “really really hopeful” to meet her “little miss thing” in the spring through an Instagram post.
In the same post, Strong linked her pregnancy announcement to the upcoming November presidential election. She wore a “pregnant, pro-choice and proud” shirt and wrote, “It’s kind of insane and scary to disclose all of this.
But for me – it’s much scarier to think about what could happen after Tuesday’s election. I currently live in a state where I will be able to receive all the healthcare I may possibly need. But we won’t be safe anywhere in the US if there is (a) national ban like the one promised by Project 2025.”

Strong joined many other SNL stars who returned for the 50th anniversary special. The Weekend Update segment also featured Bill Murray, who humorously ranked the anchors from worst to best. He joked, “I have to disqualify myself because my entire time here, I was on performance-enhancing drugs.”
Cecily Strong shares her pregnancy reveal and IVF experience
In November 2024, Cecily Strong shared a heartfelt post on Instagram to announce that she was pregnant for the first time. She revealed that after a difficult journey with fertility, she became pregnant at 40 through in-vitro fertilization (IVF). She connected this news to a 2021 SNL sketch in which she played Goober the Clown, a character who had an abortion at 23.
She reflected on her past experiences with reproductive healthcare, saying, “A couple years ago I did a piece on SNL as Goober the Clown who had an abortion the day before her 23rd birthday, I’m happy to report that same clown is now very happily pregnant from IVF at 40.”
Strong shared her concerns about the political climate in the U.S., particularly regarding reproductive rights. She talked about the possibility of national abortion restrictions and posted a photo wearing a shirt that said, “Pregnant, pro-choice, and proud.” She expressed her fears, saying, “It’s kind of insane and scary to disclose all of this.
But for me, it’s much scarier to think about what could happen after Tuesday’s election. I currently live in a state where I will be able to receive all the healthcare I may need.” She added, “But we won’t be safe anywhere in the US if there is [a] national ban like the one promised by Project 2025.”
