Bradley Walsh tells player it would be a “waste of my time” after their choice on The Chase

Bradley Walsh, the host of The Chase, didn’t hold back in warning a contestant after a questionable decision during a game that left viewers upset.

In the episode that aired on Wednesday (February 19), 64-year-old Bradley was back on TV with four contestants eager to win a large cash prize.

The group competing against Darragh Ennis, also known as The Menace, included Liam from Derbyshire, Katy from the Isle of Wight, Qahir from Bromley, and Anne from Manchester, all trying to win big money.

The team seemed to be doing well, with the first three contestants making it to the final stage, according to Bristol Live. Darragh recognized the team’s strength and said, “I think this team is starting to stack up a little too much so I need to knock the other two out.”

He added, “A 6 and a 5 is halfway to a super team so if the other two players pick up the same in the cash builder then I could really be in a lot of trouble.” However, it was Qahir’s choice that sparked the most reaction. To secure his place in the final, he decided to go for a lower offer of -£1,000.

Bradley quickly warned him, saying, “You’ve gone for minus one. It would be a waste of my time if you don’t go through now, I have to be honest.”

Fans on social media were quick to voice their displeasure. One unhappy viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “#thechase lowest offer w*****, channel changed!”

Another said, “Now the prick tells someone else not to take the low offer, properly bellend him. #thechase.” A third added: “Would love to see someone have a real go at the person that takes the low offer. Coward #TheChase.”

One more viewer vented, saying, “No!!! What is this! Minus £1,000 Offer taken! I have absolutely had enough! How on earth is this even possible!”

An angry fan also demanded, “Why are the producers always casting useless players who opt for the stupid low offer! This has gone completely out of hand and must end now! #TheChase.”

Bradley Walsh says ‘it’s over’

In a recent episode of The Chase, host Bradley Walsh almost ended a player’s game early. Rumun, a resident of Manchester, shared his job, which surprised Bradley.

The episode featured new contestants, including Sally, Rumun, Sharron, and Taven, all ready to face The Chaser.

As the game continued, after Taven and Sharron were eliminated, it was Rumun’s turn to challenge Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer. However, things got a little awkward when Bradley almost disqualified the 23-year-old after hearing his job.

When Rumun said, “I’m a tax advisor Brad,” Bradley jokingly responded, “And for you The Chase is over.”

Bradley seemed surprised by the job, but after a short pause, he added, “Right you’re back in the game,” reports the Liverpool Echo.

Bradley was not only amused by Rumun’s job but also by his support for Derby County football club.

While joking with Rumun, Shaun Wallace couldn’t resist making a joke, saying, “Well you’re a tax advisor and a County fan, you do a lot of accounting for losses then.” Rumun laughed and said, “Good one,” before getting ready for the quiz.

Despite giving a “quality performance” like his teammates, Rumun didn’t make it to the final round, leaving Sally to go up against The Dark Destroyer alone.

Sally was tempted by a £100,000 offer but chose the safer £4,000 option. Unfortunately, her attempt wasn’t enough, and Shaun beat her score of nine with a whole minute to spare.

While the episode was entertaining, some viewers were disappointed, thinking the show was a “repeat.” One confused viewer posted, “I thought I’d seen it before?” and another said, “Just tuned in and just tuned out again it must be about 10 yrs old.”

This feeling of déjà vu wasn’t new for The Chase fans, who had noticed the same issue the night before. They expected new content, but instead, they got a repeat.

Fans quickly realized that the “new” episode was actually a repeat, even though TV listings said it was new.

ITV faced criticism for this mistake. A frustrated viewer posted, “Get your act together ITV, this episode was only aired about a week ago ffs….. #thechase.”

Another viewer said, “NEW #TheChase Don’t think so. This is a repeat! @ITV garbage.”

The complaints kept coming, with more fans tweeting things like, “Just turned on…probably already been noted, but this ‘new’ The Chase, is definitely a repeat #thechase,” and “This episode of #TheChase says New, yet it was on so recently I knew what the contestant was going to say before he said it. #repeat.”
