Sometimes, it’s hard to explain why we still watch dating reality shows. People rarely end up in long-lasting relationships, but for some reason, we can’t seem to stop watching when a new dating show comes on. After the success of the U.K.’s Love Island, which aired every night on ITV, the U.S. decided to create their own version.
Love Island USA became a hit right away when it premiered on CBS in 2019, and the excitement grew even more when Sarah Hyland, from Modern Family, started hosting the show on Peacock in 2022. Now, let’s take a look at the original Love Island stars from Season 1. What are they doing now?
Cashel Barnett
Cashel Barnett didn’t stay long on Love Island Season 1, but he didn’t let that stop him from shining. He later appeared on The Challenge: USA with his ex-girlfriend Kyra Green, although they didn’t last long there either. Today, Cashel works as a model with agencies like Opt 1 Models, Stars Management, and The Driven Agency. He’s also in a band called Doom Cupcake, where he plays the drums.
Dylan Curry and Alexandra Stewart
Dylan Curry made a strong impression on Love Island Season 1, and although he and Alexandra Stewart placed second in the finals, they didn’t stay together for long after the show. A few months later, they posted on Instagram saying they broke up but were still on good terms.
Currently, Dylan plays lacrosse for the San Diego Lacrosse Club and works at CrossFit TurnPoint. Alexandra now hosts the After the Island podcast. In 2022, Dylan shared a picture with someone named Alanna. Could he be in a new relationship?

Ray Gantt and Caro Viehweg continued their relationship after Love Island by appearing on The Amazing Race, but their season was cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They split up during the pandemic, so they didn’t return when filming resumed. Ray later appeared on Ex on the Beach and Love Island Games.
Caro became a model and married entrepreneur Rene Lacad in 2023. They welcomed their daughter, Amina, on April 13, 2024.
Kyra Green
Though Kyra Green didn’t make it to the finals of Love Island USA, she became a fan favorite. She had a complicated romance with Cashel and Jered, which led her to be eliminated. After the show, she appeared on The Challenge: USA but didn’t make it to the finals there either. Today, Kyra is a model and singer, spends time with her family, and makes funny TikTok videos. She also appeared on MTV’s Match Me If You Can in 2021 and Season 5 of Ex on the Beach.
In June 2024, Kyra posted a video on Instagram sharing some exciting news with her mom: she has a girlfriend! She has since been updating her fans about her new relationship, and everything seems to be going well.
Zachary “Zac” Mirabelli and Elizabeth Weber
Zac Mirabelli and Elizabeth Weber won the first season of Love Island USA, but things didn’t stay happy for them. They broke up shortly after filming, which they shared on Instagram. Zac, like many of his co-stars, models and spends time with friends and family. Elizabeth also models and co-hosts After the Island with Alex. She’s now dating Gianni Settino, the co-founder of Hotstreak Fantasy Sports.

Now, both are entrepreneurs. Emily co-founded Face-y, a health and beauty brand, while Weston creates content with his production company, XclusiV Productions.
Jered Youngblood
Jered Youngblood joined Love Island in Week 3 and left just before the finals after pairing up with Kyra. He now lives in Kipahulu, Hawaii, where he works as a banana harvester and tour guide. In his free time, he enjoys spearfishing and modeling with ALEXA and Modern Muse agencies.
Many other Love Island Season 1 cast members left or were eliminated before the finals. Most of them have gone on to become influencers and models, which makes sense given the nature of the show. Cormac Murphy appeared on Season 10 of Celebs Go Dating, joining some of his former co-stars as an established reality star.
