The music executive made headlines when he was first seen holding hands with Cher in November 2022.

In the days that followed, Cher faced criticism because of the 40-year age gap between them. However, she responded in typical fashion on X with several posts suggesting that she wasn’t bothered by the age difference.

Among the posts, the “Believe” superstar confirmed her relationship with Edwards by sharing a picture of him and writing, “Alexander .” When asked if he was her “new man,” she replied with a “” emoji, and to another user, she simply said, “Love doesn’t know math.”

Cher spoke about her boyfriend again in December 2022 on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous,” she said about their relationship. “But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous. And I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”

Edwards works as a music executive at Universal Music Group, one of the three major record labels in the industry, along with Sony Music and Warner Music Group. Some of the artists signed to the label include Post Malone, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande.

He produced music on Tyga’s record label

Edwards is also a music producer and artist who has worked on rapper Tyga’s independent label, Last Kings Records. He shares a close friendship with the hip-hop artist, and they are often seen together in photos or out in Los Angeles.

He shares a child with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose

Edwards and Amber Rose had a child together in October 2019. The couple, who broke up in 2021 after several incidents of cheating, chose a very musical name for their child, Slash Electric Alexander Edwards.

In March 2024, Rose appeared on The Jason Lee Podcast and talked about Slash’s relationship with Cher.

“I’m very happy that [Alexander is] with Cher because it creates stability for when [our] son goes over there,” she said. “It’s not all mayhem and stuff.”

Edwards and Cher first met at Paris Fashion Week in September 2022. Although they weren’t photographed together at that time, the Grammy-winning singer posed for pictures with Edwards’ friend Tyga.

In September 2023, Edwards and Cher attended Paris Fashion Week as a couple. They sat in the front row at the Balmain Womenswear Spring/Summer 2024 show.

He’s 40 years younger than Cher

Edwards is 38 years old and Cher is 78, but the Grammy winner isn’t bothered by the age difference. “LOVE DOESN’T KNOW MATH, IT SEES ,” Cher wrote in a tweet that was later deleted, but captured by The Shade Room.

Cher has dated younger men in the past, including Val Kilmer, Tom Cruise, and Rob Camilletti in the 1980s.

“The truth was if I hadn’t gone out with younger men, I would have never had a date,” Cher told PEOPLE in 2021. “Younger men weren’t intimidated by older women. But older men in my age category, they weren’t having it.”

In October 2023, Cher spoke to PEOPLE about finding love in her seventies.

“What I learned is that it’s never too late,” she said. “If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”

Rumors about an engagement started after Edwards gave Cher a huge diamond ring for Christmas.

On New Year’s Eve, Cher showed off the ring in a photo with Edwards, but she was not wearing it on her ring finger.

In February 2023, a source told PEOPLE that the couple was not talking about marriage yet.

“They are very much in love. They are exclusive and serious,” the source added. “Cher likes that he’s young. It’s exciting for her.”

He helped Cher cope with the loss of her mother

In December 2022, Cher’s mother passed away at the age of 96. A source in the music industry later told PEOPLE that Cher’s relationship with Edwards “has helped ease the pain of the loss.”

The source also talked about the engagement-like ring that Edwards gave Cher for Christmas, calling it a “nice and beautiful gift.”

A second source said, “The ring was the perfect present to help her get through this bittersweet time.” Edwards worked with Cher on her first-ever holiday album, Christmas, which was released in October 2023.

During a Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg, Cher shared the story of her first texting conversation with Edwards.

“I left to go to Switzerland, and he texted me. He said, ‘Where are you going?’ I said, ‘I’m going to Switzerland, I’m a little tired.’ And then he wrote me, ‘Well, get some rest babyyy.’ And I went, he doesn’t know me well enough to put three y’s on baby,” the “Believe” singer said. “I was kind of pissed off. She continued, “I told my friends, don’t fall in love with a younger man, we’re too old, and don’t ever fall in love by text. There goes that theory.”

Since they started dating, Cher and Edwards have attended many important events, including Balmain’s Paris Fashion Week show, the Equal Justice Now Awards, and the annual amfAR Gala in France.
