Alex Albon has been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Lily Muni He, since 2019.
The Formula 1 driver first met Lily, who is a professional golfer, on social media after they both became interested in each other’s sports.
In 2021, Lily told Golfweek that she had been “really into cars” since middle school but didn’t know much about F1 until she watched the Netflix series Drive to Survive. Wanting to learn more about the sport, Lily began following some drivers, including Alex.
“He’s a really funny person,” the golfer said. “I think when we first met, British humor is slightly different. It took me a while to catch on.”
On his side, Alex considers Lily one of his greatest supporters. In March 2022, he told PEOPLE, “You need a very strong circle around you. I have a very strong circle … That’s where you get your inner peace, but also your motivation.”

Lily was born in China and moved to North America when she was a child
Lily was born in Chengdu, China, in 1999. At the age of 9, her family moved to Vancouver, Canada, and later moved to San Diego.
After finishing high school, Lily studied communications at the University of Southern California and played on the women’s golf team, according to Tatler Asia. However, she later decided to take a break from her education to focus on her career in golf.

Lily started playing golf at the age of 5, after her father introduced her to the sport.
She shared with Tatler Asia that she gave up most of her childhood to focus on improving her golf skills, which helped her turn professional as a teenager.
“It was difficult growing up being a student athlete,” Lily said. “I only had so much time in the day and I tried my best to balance everything. I always had to keep my priority in mind and playing professionally was what I wanted.”
According to her LPGA bio, Lily won her first professional event in 2018 and earned a spot in the LPGA Q-Series the next year, which led to her 2020 LPGA Tour membership.
They met on social media
Lily started following Alex on social media after watching the Netflix series Drive To Survive, which shows a season of Formula 1 racing. Around the same time, Alex began showing interest in golf.
“I was just kind [of] following how she was doing, and she was following how I was doing, and one thing led to another and we met up in L.A.,” he told Golfweek in 2022. “It was a week after I had a race in Texas. We played some golf together and that’s how it all got started.”
Lily told Golfweek the year before, “He was really getting into golf at the same time I was getting into his sport. He was watching a lot of YouTube videos and golf on TV, so then he followed me. I guess that’s how we technically met.”

Both Lily and Alex are at the top of their sports, which brings its own set of challenges and achievements. Through all of this, they have been able to support each other as athletes.
“On top of everything, we understand and we get each other,” Alex told Golfweek. “We started our sports as rookies, and we‘ve gone through tough times together.”
He added, “The highs and lows of being an athlete, I think you can resonate that with any athlete.”
With their busy careers often taking them to different places, they spend a lot of time apart. However, Alex has said that this gives them both “the space that you need.”
“You need a lot of time to work on yourself, and I think golf is really like that, too,” he said. “In a weird way, we make our long-distance relationship work.”
During their time apart, the couple found a sweet way to stay connected: virtual reality golf games.
“I’m still losing, but I’m losing less,” Alex told GQ in 2023. “And obviously being in a long-distance relationship, it’s also quite nice to play games together.”

When they’re not working, Lily and Alex often play golf together. The F1 driver shared with Golfweek that he started off “pretty badly” but has improved a little, though he joked that not much of his progress has come from Lily’s coaching.
“The problem with us is that she doesn’t know where to start with me,” Alex said. “She’s not a golf coach, and she’s not used to having to change absolutely everything in a swing.”
He continued, “I’ll shank the ball and be like ‘Lily, what went wrong?’ And she’s like, ‘I don’t know where to start; it’s all wrong.’ ”
Lily has argued for more gender equality in golf
In an interview with Tatler Asia, Lily spoke about how female professional golfers earn less money than male golfers, both in tours and in sponsorship deals.
“We’re judged if we look a certain way, as if it diminishes our athletic ability,” she said. “That doesn’t apply to men. I want to change the conversation around this.”
One day, she said, Lily hopes for there to be a collaboration between the LPGA and PGA tournaments.
