Venom: Let There Be Carnage Title Announcement by Sony Pictures

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is an upcoming anti-hero film that is based on the Spiderman antagonist, Venom from Marvel Comics. The film is to be made by Columbia Pictures in alliance with Marvel and Tencent Pictures and is to be distributed by Sony Pictures. This movie will be a sequel to the 2018 movie, Venom and will be the third film in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. The plans for this sequel were in development during the production of Venom itself. So, Woody Harrelson was cast as Cletus Kasady to appear for a brief moment to foreshadow his appearance as Carnage in the upcoming sequel.

Directed by Andy Serkis and screenplay by Kelly Marcel, the production took place from November 2019 to February 2020. The filming took place at Leavesden Studios, with additional filming in San Francisco. The title of the movie was announced in April 2020 with a teaser dropped by Sony Pictures.

The Plot of Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Venom vs. Carnage

If rumors are to be believed, the film will be inspired by the Maximum Carnage storyline. Venom will be hunted down by another shady organization for utilizing the symbiotes. They will be the ones responsible for giving birth to Carnage and Mania. The Scream symbiote is still alive while, Agony, Lasher, and Scom land on earth through a meteorite. According to the storyline, Black Cat and Spiderman should also appear.

According to 4chan, Carnage will act out as the main villain, created by a sample of Venom, which somehow comes in contact with Cletus Kasady. And unlike the comics where Carnage is Venom’s offspring, here Carnage will be his brother. Carnage is a mutant that can multiply and infect people, so Cletus decides to spread it worldwide. Carnage has two accomplices, Frances Barrison/Shriek and Malcolm McBridge. There is even a possibility for Shriek to get infected and become She-Carnage.

Carnage will kill Anne’s boyfriend and commit several other crimes for which Venom is framed. Anne will bond with Eddie once again and become She-Venom, to fight She-Carnage. Venom and Carnage will fight a few times, with the last battle being in a hospital.

Cast & Crew

After the announcement of the then-untitled sequel, Andy Serkis was brought in to direct the film. Also, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach came back as producers alongside Hutch Parker from Fox’s X-Men film franchise.

We will see Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams reprise their role as Eddie Brock/Venom and Anne Weying. This could also mean a return for She-Venom as Anne had temporarily bonded with the symbiote in Venom. Reid Scott is set to return as Dr. Dan Lewis, Anne’s new boyfriend. And given the movie title and his appearance in Venom, Woody Harrelson will take on the role of Cletus Kasady, and his homicidal symbiotic alter ego, Carnage. Naomie Harris will also appear in the movie as Shriek, a deranged powerful inmate usually depicted as Cletus Kasady’s lover. The Irishman’s Stephen Graham is also set to join the cast in an undisclosed role.
