Netflix’s upcoming movie titled ‘Finding Ohana’ is all set to grace our screens on 29 January 2021. The official YouTube channel of Netflix recently dropped the trailer of ‘Finding Ohana’, and we already have dates saved for this youth-centric movie. Directed by Jude Weng, and written by Christina Strain, an American comic book writer, the film takes you out on a series of the colorful journey while being in the comfort of your home. Produced by Ian Bryce, the film serves as a perfect treat if you’re looking for a sweet and mysterious film to suit the pacifism of your weekend vibes.
Getting into a bit of depth of the released trailer, the plot likely revolves around two siblings Pili and Loane, portrayed by Kea Peahu and Alex Aiono, respectively. They’re brought up in Brooklyn, and the two of them, along with their mother, travel to Oahu, during their summer break to spend some time with him. Oahu is an island, and the siblings find it hard to adjust to their surroundings initially. The trailer begins when the three are welcomed by the grandfather and how the kids are unhappy and inquire about what they will do if the island doesn’t support an internet connection?

Loane is agitated at spending his senior year at the island and expresses his unwillingness to his mother. He then comes across a girl named Hana and develops an instant fondness towards her. The way she ignores and teases him while he tries to get her attention adds to the quirkiness of the trailer in an amusing way. Pili, while exploring her grandpa’s place, comes across a boy named Casper, who luckily is of her age, and both of them befriend each other instantly. The two of them discuss Peruvian treasures and sailors.
A summer in O‘ahu takes a turn when a journal pointing to long-lost treasure sets two siblings on an epic adventure to reconnect with their Hawaiian heritage.

The siblings then overhear their mother and grandfather having a conversation over their family house. Her grandfather is about to lose the house. He is unwilling to let it go, even if he has to lose his own life while making sure his house is safe. Pili’s grandfather then makes her a bit aware of her ancestors, and that intrigues the fire within her to explore her ‘Hawaiian heritage’ with proximity. Pili then tells Loane about the journal that holds information regarding the location of a legendary treasure that has been kept hidden for ages.
She is willing to look out for it so she can help grandpa save his family home. She sets out on an adventure with Casper and is joined by her brother Loane who, with the help of Hana, is willing to protect her sister from any dangers she could invite towards her during her ‘imaginary’ trail towards the treasure. But what Loane believed to be ‘imaginary’ soon turns out to be a real-life adventure they had never imagined.
