Star Trek: Discovery is set over 900 years after the events of the original series. The show revolves around the USS Discovery crew as they have set out to explore the future. Season 4 has already been confirmed back in October 2020. By the end of Season 3, we saw the setting change to the 32nd century. And now, we will explore the changed planets, races, and concepts as we head into season 4. This article will look into the preview and updates available on Star Trek: Discovery Season 4.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Recap
The main agenda Commander Michael Burnham and the crew of Discovery had was finding the cause of The Burn. The burn was a catastrophe that collapsed the United Federation of Planets while fracturing the galaxy. During the course of the season, Burnham and the crew learned what happened to Earth and how it was renamed to Ni’Var. Vulcan had done this, thus fulfilling Spock’s final mission. They find out the cause of The Burn to be Su’Kal, a Kelpien trapped in the Verubin Nebula.
During their journey, the Starfleet even had their fates interweave with the galaxy’s biggest crime syndicate, Emerald Chain. Their leader, Osyraa acted out as the main antagonist of Star Trek: Discovery season 3. She even made an attempt to wipe out the Federation when her plans to take control were deemed unsuccessful. By the season’s end, the show had a major facelift with Michael Burnham becoming the new Captain. As she is poised to lead Discovery on new journeys in season 4.
When will Season 4 Release?
Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise serve as the showrunners and have confirmed various production details regarding the upcoming season. The show began its pre-production in January 2020 during the production of Season 3 itself. Now as the pandemic began, it had slowed down productions thus giving more time to prepare the script. This is also a reason why the script for season 5 was in development starting March.
