Episode 3 recap

The case focused on a man named Hewitt who robbed a couple’s home and kidnapped a woman named Avery from thereafter; he shot her husband. As the Fugitive Task Force takes over the case, Jess remembers that Avery and Hewitt were also involved in a bank robbery case back in 2002. Jess was present there at that time and was pursuing Hewitt, but he felt responsible for the murder of a pregnant officer during the case. Ever since that day, Jess has been holding himself responsible for all of this.

In the morning, Jess sits with his father for breakfast, discussing his marriage to his girlfriend, Marie Smith. Jess doesn’t have a good relationship with his father, but now he is also worried about his daughter Tali, who now shows up in makeup, thanks to Marie. Jess doesn’t want his daughter to be influenced by her grandfather, let alone grow close to him as well. Jess vents out to Isobel about the fact that his new mom is only 2 years older than him and the fact that his father Bryan is putting up an act for Tali. Isobel tells him that his father might die sooner or later, and he must make peace with him someday.

When Jess came back home from the case, he was welcomed by Bryan, Marie, and Tali dancing in the living room and having fun. But when Jess notices a new dress that Tali is wearing for her grandfather’s wedding, he walks out, and Bryan follows him. While they both have a heart-to-heart, we learn that the reason Bryan didn’t show up for Jess’s wife’s funeral was that he was in prison.

He was embarrassed to call his son because Jess was grieving. He also mentions to Jess the fact that he isn’t around Tali that much. Bryan tells him that Jess deserves to spend more time with his daughter while Jess responds the same for his father, which implies that he is ready to make peace with his father.
