Godzilla vs. Kong: Trailer Breakdown & Preview

Godzilla vs Kong

The trailer for one of the most anticipated films of the year, Godzilla vs. Kong, has finally been dropped on YouTube. The official trailer of the upcoming science-fiction monster film came out on 24 January 2020 and, within a couple of hours, became a hot topic in the entertainment industry. It is the fourth film of the Godzilla-Kong universe that has been drawn together. The trailer appears visually appealing and successfully enlightens excitement towards its plot and what the entire film has to offer.

If we try to breakdown the trailer and make assumptions about the storyline, it appears quite straightforward. It’s a monster vs. monster fight, but maybe there’s a twist to it. Initially, as the trailer begins, we feel that the world is on the verge of being destroyed completely. Kong has been chained up because his protectors want to take him to his true home, somewhere he actually belongs to. With them is a young orphaned girl who has a unique bond with Kong, and she is the only one who is capable of communicating with him. Kong seems to have a special place for her in his heart and can never hurt her in any way. But eventually, they come across Godzilla, who is all ready to cut the globe into pieces and put an end to humanity.

The people feel that Kong is the only creature who can fight Godzilla and stop him from harming the world. They approach Kong, and the world witnesses the two most powerful energies of nature against each other, knocking each other down, craving each other’s permanent fall.

Here, Godzilla is showcased as the evil one who is willing to crush the humanity under his feet. But we also witness Kong, who is rising to stop him from any destruction. The present visuals in the trailer are in total contradiction to what the giant lizard is all about. Previously, he was portrayed as a heroic creature, but now, the tables have been turned to a completely different dimension. The collision between the two giants seems like a complete treat that is all set to premiere on the big screen.

The project was announced back in October 2015 when the makers wanted to come up with a shared cinematic universe between the two monsters. It is a sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island. Principle photography began in 2018, and the sequences were shot in Hawai, Australia, and Hong Kong, and the film was wrapped up in 2019. However, the film the scheduled to hit the big screens in November 2020 but got delayed due to the global health pandemic. Now finally, the film is all set to hit the theatres on 26 March 2021.

Speaking about the film and its plot, Wingard had previously expressed his desire for his film to be an absolute winner. He said that though the original movie was entertaining, he had felt a little let down when it failed to take a definite stance. People, however, are still holding debates over the fact that who actually won in the original movie. So now he wants people to get a definite answer to their question this time, and when they walk out of the theatres, they will know who actually is the winner. Directed by Adam Wingard, the film stars Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall, Millie Bobby Brown, and Brian Tyree Henry, and of course, two of the most popular monsters the viewers have seen.
