AC Milan have won the 2021/22 Scudetto. This is their first Serie A title in 11 years. A 3-0 win against Sassuolo won them the prize. Even though a draw would have been enough, Milan went for the win. Doing so, they’ve clinched the crown from rivals Inter Milan. Inter were the Serie A champions last season. Going into the final day, both teams had the chance to win it. However, Stefano Pioli’s men took home gold. Olivier Giroud scored a brace in the decider. And then a Franck Kessie strike sealed the win. Youngster Rafael Leao provided all three assists. All in all, it has been a stellar season for the ‘Red and Blacks.’
Notably, this was Milan’s 19th Serie A title. Furthermore, they reached the semi-final stage of the Coppa Italia.

They faced just four defeats throughout the season. Milan eventually finished 2 points ahead of Inter. They also kept 18 clean sheets. The most in the league this term. Mike Maignan won the golden glove. At the same time, Rafael Leao finished the season with the highest goals and assists for Milan.
Notably, this is Pioli’s first trophy as head coach. After their 3-0 win, fans ran onto the Mapei stadium. Pioli was a center of attraction for them. However, he later discovered that his winner’s medal was stolen. He says that someone stripped it off his neck. But Serie A authorities solved the issue. They soon confirmed that a new award would be sent to Pioli.

This is Milan’s first title since 2011. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the only player from that side to play for Milan on Sunday.
