GT has been the best team in this year’s IPL. It was no surprise that they qualified for the final on May 29. Most of their players have looked in good form. Hardik Pandya has had a mature first season as captain. The match went on to the final over on Tuesday. Nevertheless, GT looked in control from the start. It’ll be no mean feat trying to eclipse them in the race for the title.
Notably, Gujrat Titans will play the final in their debut IPL season. Not a lot of people gave them a chance on paper. However, they have beaten the odds in style. Here, we’ll break down the various aspects of the match for you.
Gujrat Titans enter the 2022 IPL final: Match report
RR lost an early wicket in the game. But the orange cap holder Jos Buttler scored a brilliant 89 off 56 balls. Standing beside him was the RR skipper Sanju Samson. He scored a quickfire 46 off 26 balls. The partnership was vital for RR to post a target of 189. Besides, Rashid Khan was the best bowler on the night for GT.
Shubman Gill looked solid with the bat for the Titans. He scored 35 runs with a healthy strike rate. However, he was dismissed soon. Captain Pandya and David Miller then took the crease. The duo played very sensibly from there. Eventually, they built an unbeaten 106-run partnership. GT needed 16 runs in the final over of the match. What followed was chaos. Notably, Miller played for the RR in the last season. After the match, he jokingly put a Tweet out, saying sorry to the RR fans. The fans loved this gesture.
