In a horrific incident that took place on 3 June, Metro Boomin’s mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne, was reportedly murdered by her husband, who is not Metro’s biological father, and committed suicide thereafter. The identity of the father is yet to be disclosed and the family has requested some closure in this regard. Body of MS. Leslie was found by the police outside the Atlanta area and the tragic news was communicated to Metro Boomin immediately. An autopsy is being conducted in the meanwhile and further details are yet to come out.
Leslie Joanne Wayne was 50 years old at the time of death and she had raised Boomin and 3 other siblings in St Louis. In a 2016 interview with The Fader, Metro Boomin said that his mother has been the source of inspiration and his pillar of strength. She has always encouraged him to follow his path and had never been any kind of obstruction. In fact, she was the one to identify the musical talent in Metro and supported him ever since he took the road downtown. She used to drive him 8 hours from St Louis to Atlanta to pursue his musical dreams. A total of 17 hours of drive used to take place for Ms. Wayne so that his son learns his craft well only on the promise that Metro’s grades wouldn’t be compromised. That is the kind of mother she was, his biggest source of inspiration!
With this tragic news, the entire music community has offered prayers and condolences on Social Media for Leslie Joanne.
