The Boston Khana food truck has taken Pakistani cuisine, curry spices, and curry flavors to the next international level. Curries curated with coconut milk, delicious sauce, and a combined Asian, Pakistani, and Indian curry flavor are the defining elements of the Khana menu.
Detroit-based Chef Maryam Khan and her team have made one clarification. ‘I don’t have a good truck. That is a common misconception.’
Pakistani-influenced street food
Ever since 2018, Khan has conducted events all over Metropolitan Detroit. She has learned to cook Pakistani food from her parents, topped with American elements like nachos and grilled cheese.
The traditional restaurant kitchen attracts crowds to the truck. Khan says that the food is ‘very representative’ of who she is- Pakistani born of immigrant parents.
The food is experimental and desi- aloo gobi burrito, Masala fried fish tacos, Golgappa chat, and Chicken tikka Mac and cheese.
A unique fusion of Michigan food business
It promises both halal and vegetarian options in Korean BBQ, fried butter chicken sandwiches, and halal tacos. Two very interesting business partners are Khan, a Pakistani- American and Carlos Parisi, a Mexican, Italian, and Lebanese.
Parisi says that from a late-night snack, Khana has evolved into a safe community. It’s about the love of cultural cuisine in a fun and safe space.
