Former “Teen Mom 2” star Jenelle Evans has finally spoken out in the wake of her husband, David Eason, being charged with child abuse following their son Jace Evans’ third attempt to run away. In a statement posted on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, October 24, the 31-year-old expressed her frustration, saying, “You would think the police wouldn’t conduct a one-sided investigation.
They didn’t conduct interviews or seek information from the parents.” She went on to criticize what she perceived as a biased situation, adding, “I trusted the detective with all my heart, but I forgot you can’t trust cops—silly me. I do not trust anyone around me. Going MIA for a while.”
Jenelle’s statement came shortly after TMZ reported that her 35-year-old husband, David, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse in connection with their 14-year-old son. The charges emerged from an investigation carried out by Child Protective Services (CPS) and North Carolina’s Columbus County Police following Jace’s disappearance on September 28.

Jace was hospitalized with visible marks on his neck and arm upon being found. It was later confirmed that Jenelle and David became subjects of a CPS investigation after Jace allegedly claimed that his stepdad had “assaulted” him.
Jenelle’s manager confirmed, “CPS got involved when Jace was checked into the hospital, and Jace is still in the hospital, undergoing a mental health evaluation.”
Jenelle, who has three children and shares her son Kaiser with ex-Nathan Griffith and daughter Ensley with her husband, took to social media to show support for her husband in the face of Jace’s allegations. In an October 15 TikTok video, she said, “He is being accused of some horrible, horrible stuff that is not true. I was there, my kids were there, everyone was there. You guys have no idea about the details.” She praised David’s patience and expressed her sadness for the situation.
David also addressed the allegations, posting on Instagram, “Our kids are in our custody, and anything you read is not true.” He further claimed that police reports had been falsified and asked for privacy regarding Jace, stating, “The best thing any of you can do for Jace is to stop talking about him altogether, please! Thanks.”
Jenelle had been granted full custody of Jace in March after a lengthy legal battle with her mother, Barbara Evans. However, following Jace’s release from the hospital, there were sightings of him in his grandmother’s car, leading to speculation that custody might have shifted once again.
