Tallulah Willis recently provided an update on her father, Bruce Willis’ health following his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) earlier this year. Speaking on the “Drew Barrymore Show,” Tallulah described the aggressive nature of the rare cognitive disease and shared that her father remains unchanged, which, she emphasized, is a positive aspect in dealing with FTD.
As the youngest daughter of Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore, who were married from 1987 to 2000, Tallulah, along with her older sisters Scout and Rumer Willis, has been part of a family that has been open about Bruce’s condition. In 2009, Bruce remarried Emma Heming, and they have two young daughters together.
The Willis family, including Emma Heming, Demi Moore, and Bruce’s five daughters, has consistently provided updates on his health since their initial statement in February announcing his FTD diagnosis. Tallulah stressed the importance of transparency about Bruce’s progress and expressed their family’s goal to raise awareness about FTD.
Quoting information from the Mayo Clinic, which describes FTD as an umbrella term for a group of brain disorders primarily affecting the frontal and temporal lobes, Tallulah highlighted that these areas of the brain are associated with personality, behavior, and language.
Tallulah acknowledged that openly discussing Bruce’s journey is crucial and mentioned their family’s commitment to turning their challenges into a means of helping others. She stated that if their experiences can be turned into something beautiful that aids others, it holds great significance for them.
Recently, Bruce’s friend and “Moonlighting” collaborator Glenn Gordon Caron shared with the New York Post that the actor is now non-verbal, emphasizing the loss of language skills while noting that Bruce’s essence remains unchanged.
Tallulah described her current interactions with her father, noting that a significant part of their time together involves playing music and immersing themselves in an energy of love. Despite the challenges posed by FTD, she emphasized the special bond they share and the love that she continues to experience from her father.
