On Instagram, Derek Hough just provided a happy update on the health of his wife, Hayley Erbert. After undergoing an emergency craniectomy earlier this month in which a “large portion of her skull” was rebuilt, Hough expressed a great deal of pleasure and appreciation that Hayley’s planned cranioplasty procedure went well.
The Dancing with the Stars judge expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the outstanding medical staff in an Instagram post, highlighting their critical function in guaranteeing a successful and uneventful procedure. He gave special thanks to Dr. Mai, who not only carried out the procedure but also was instrumental in keeping Hayley alive two weeks earlier.

Hough addressed how the prayers, good vibes, and outpouring of support from well-wishers had been a source of strength at this difficult time. She expressed her sincere gratitude for the outpouring. According to him, Hayley’s rehabilitation journey reached a major turning point with the surgery, and the community’s support was essential in making it happen.
Hough disclosed to the world last week that his wife, 29, would get a skull implant in the upcoming weeks to protect the brain from harm and return the skull to its original shape. With hope and optimism for Hayley’s complete recovery, he posted a video of the two of them strolling hand in hand on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Though she admitted that Hayley’s recuperation has been extraordinary, Hough said there is still a long way to go. By highlighting the dancer’s own strength and resilience, as well as the strength of a supporting community, she highlighted the fleeting nature of life and how quickly things can change.
The health problem started on December 6th, during their Symphony of Dance tour stop, when Erbert began to exhibit signs of a cerebral hematoma, a disease in which blood accumulates in the head. Erbert had an emergency craniectomy on December 7 when it was determined that he had a cerebral hemorrhage from a ruptured blood vessel.
Throughout the experience, Hough has used social media to inform his fans of his wife’s condition and to thank them for their continued support. Coupled in August in California, Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert are grateful for the love and support they have around them as they traverse this difficult chapter of their lives together.
