Actor John Schneider, best known for playing Bo Duke in the highly acclaimed television series “Dukes of Hazzard,” recently took to social media to express his strong opinions about both President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.
Discord began when President Biden voiced worries about what he saw as Trump’s challenges to the nation’s values—which include civil rights, voting rights, individual liberty, and the nation’s status in the world—on X, the old Twitter platform. The greatest threat, as President Biden emphasized, is the possible deterioration of democracy.

In response to the Colorado state Supreme Court’s recent decision to exclude Donald Trump from the ballot over alleged involvement in an “insurrection,” Schneider made a controversial statement directed at President Biden. He remarked, “Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung,” alluding to the legal challenges faced by President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
The Federal Criminal Code, Chapter 18, Section 871, stipulates that threats against the President of the United States are punishable by up to five years in prison or other penalties.
Joe Adalian, editor of “West Coast TV” at Vulture, expressed concern at Schneider’s remarks, saying that he cannot endorse calls for the President to be publicly executed, regardless of the actor’s personal problems. On social media, however, Schneider found support from those who viewed him as a patriot devoted to defending the US against alleged corporate influence and official corruption.
President Biden brought up the fact that Trump’s name would not be on the 2024 presidential ballot in response to the ruling of the Colorado Supreme Court. He claimed that Trump appeared to be reinforcing his opinions on contentious issues and had supported an insurrection. The court cited Trump’s expulsion from the Colorado presidential primary due to his infringement of Section Three of the US Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment in its majority decision.
Alina Habba, Trump’s lawyer, declared that she was certain the Supreme Court would reverse the ruling, calling it an assault on core democratic principles.
