In an unexpected turn of events, Kathy Griffin, the renowned comedian, has initiated divorce proceedings, marking a challenging period for her. Expressing her sentiments on Friday, she tweeted, “Well…sh*t. This sucks,” following the widespread coverage of the news.
Griffin officially filed for the dissolution of her four-year marriage with Randy Bick, her second husband, in Los Angeles on Thursday. The documents obtained by Page Six reveal the date of separation as December 22, 2023, with irreconcilable differences cited as the primary grounds for the split.
Notably, the “Fashion Police” alum and the 44-year-old marketing executive had signed a prenuptial agreement on December 23, 2019, merely nine days before their surprise New Year’s Day ceremony in 2020. Griffin, 63, is urging the court to uphold the terms of their prenup, which would preclude either party from receiving financial support. The couple, however, has no children together.

The engagement and subsequent marriage were publicly announced by Griffin just hours before the impromptu ceremony, officiated by Lily Tomlin. The actress, known for “My Life on the D-List,” shared that she and Bick aimed to kick off 2020 with a memorable start.
The pair’s relationship history includes dating from 2011, a breakup announced in November 2018, and a reconciliation by April of the following year. Unfortunately, less than two years into their marriage, Griffin faced a diagnosis of lung cancer. After undergoing surgery in December 2021, which involved the removal of half of one lung, she happily declared herself “cancer-free” on Jimmy Kimmel’s show. Griffin emphasized that she had never smoked and revealed the tumor had been present for a decade.
Despite being in remission, Griffin experienced further health challenges, necessitating vocal cord surgery in June as part of her ongoing “cancer journey” and recovery post-lung cancer surgery. This development comes after her previous marriage to actor Matt Moline, which lasted from 2001 to 2006.
