Actor Adan Canto, renowned for his roles in The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor, has passed away after a private battle with appendiceal cancer, as reported by The Wrap. He was 42.
Canto’s representatives from UTA, Entertainment360, and Viewpoint conveyed, “Adan possessed a profound spirit known to only a few. Those fortunate enough to witness it were forever changed. He will be deeply missed by many.”
Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment expressed their sorrow in a joint statement, stating, “A remarkable actor and cherished friend, we were privileged to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment families since his debut in The Following over a decade ago.”
Highlighting his recent work in The Cleaning Lady, they added, “His powerful performance illuminated the screen, showcasing his artistry, versatility, depth, and vulnerability. This loss is incomprehensible, and our hearts go out to his wife, Stephanie, their children, and loved ones. Adan will be profoundly missed.”
Canto’s notable onscreen journey dates back to 2009, featuring roles such as Paul in The Following, Sunspot in X-Men Days of Future Past, Rodrigo Lara Bonilla in Narcos, and Aaron Shore in Designated Survivor.
Apart from his acting career, Canto directed and produced two short films, Before Tomorrow in 2014 and The Shot in 2020, as per his IMDb page. Before venturing into Hollywood, he was a singer-songwriter in San Antonio, Texas, and Mexico City, serving as the lead singer of the band Del Canto.
Survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two young children, Roman Alder (3½) and Eve Josephine (1½), Canto’s final social media post was a joyous Father’s Day celebration in June 2022, where he shared a carefree photo with his family, expressing gratitude for his blessings.
