Recently, Georgia state representative Charlice Byrd (R-Woodstock) presented a resolution on Friday seeking to impeach Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. The move is based on persistent allegations of misconduct and an additional accusation of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
According to a Newsmax report, Byrd expressed the belief that Willis utilized her official position for political advantage. Byrd continues to question whether there is a conflict of interest in Willis hiring Nathan Wade, a lead prosecutor in the Donald Trump Georgia election interference case, with whom she is rumored to have a romantic relationship.
In a press release quoted by Newsmax, Byrd articulates her concerns, stating, “Fani Willis has a laundry list of potential conflicts that make her unworthy and unfit to be the District Attorney in Fulton County.
Someone elected to that office is expected to uphold the law and not weaponize their office for political gain. Since Day One when she was elected, Fani Willis has embarrassed the criminal justice system in Fulton County and our state.”
Over the weekend, the Georgia Senate took action on the matter, conducting a vote and approving the establishment of a committee to investigate any potential wrongdoing on the part of Fani Willis.
