Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake recently discussed Donald Trump and her political aspirations on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” Lake informed host Maria Bartiromo that the former head of the Arizona Republican party tried to bribe her to stay out of politics about a year ago.
Lake adamantly refused, stating, “I told him to go back to the people back east who were putting him up to this and tell them they’d have to kill me before I would stop because we don’t have time to sit around and wait.”
Lake went public with the attempted bribe immediately after it occurred without revealing the person involved. Recently, she released a recording of the conversation. Following Lake’s accusations, former Arizona GOP party chair Jeff DeWit resigned and was replaced by Gina Swoboda, known for her strong pro-Trump stance and her nonprofit, which has falsely claimed voting record issues in various states.
Lake detailed the attempted bribe, explaining, “It happened right here in my home at my dining room table” when DeWit visited her neighborhood. According to Lake, he insisted on an in-person conversation.
She described the encounter as an 11-minute attempt to bribe her, which she rejected. Lake expressed relief that DeWit was replaced and praised his successor, emphasizing the new chair’s commitment to election integrity.
During the interview, Lake reiterated her unwavering support for Trump’s second presidential bid, stating, “I do support President Trump. I don’t apologize for that. He gave us a secure, safe, prosperous America.” Lake also blamed President Joe Biden for the presence of “12 million people here illegally” without specifying the source of the statistic.
She labeled it a “Bidenvasion” orchestrated by a corrupt administration, advocating for a significant repatriation project to address the issue. Lake concluded, “And in order to save our homeland, we’ve got to send these people back to their homeland.”
