President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are scheduled to meet with leaders from the Black entertainment industry during GRAMMY weekend in Los Angeles on Saturday (Feb. 3), according to Deadline. The purpose of the meeting is to engage in discussions on the upcoming election and address topics relevant to Black Americans.
The Bidens aim to collaborate with these influential figures on strategies to mobilize voters for the November 2024 ballot, without any major fundraising events planned at this time. While in town, President Biden is also expected to return to the West Coast towards the end of March.
In a move to convey their stance on reproductive rights, the Biden administration is planning to broadcast a pro-abortion campaign ad during the GRAMMYs telecast. Following the ceremony, the ad will be aired in key battleground states across the nation. Despite these initiatives, the Bidens do not have plans to attend the 2024 GRAMMY commemoration.
The upcoming election, scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024, is anticipated to feature a rematch between President Biden and former President Donald Trump, as of February 2024.
Notably, this is not the Bidens’ first involvement during GRAMMY weekend, as Jill Biden had previously participated in the 2023 GRAMMYs. During that event, she presented the award for the inaugural Special Merit Best Song for Social Change to Iranian singer/songwriter Shervin Hajipour for the impactful song “Baraye.”
The First Lady highlighted the song’s role as an anthem for the Mahsa Amini protests, emphasizing its contribution to the cause of freedom and women’s rights. The Recording Academy received over 110,000 fan vote submissions for Hajipour’s stirring composition.
