During a rally held in South Carolina on Saturday, Donald Trump, often unaccompanied by his wife Melania during campaign functions, took a jab at his opponent Nikki Haley’s personal life, prompting a swift response from Haley herself.
Addressing potential voters, Trump launched into a diatribe about Haley and her spouse, Michael, questioning his whereabouts with remarks such as, “Where’s her husband? Oh, he’s away. What happened to her husband? Where is he? He’s gone. He knew.” Following Trump’s comments, which sparked discussions on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, Haley wasted no time in providing clarity.
“Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about,” she retorted in a post on X, accompanied by a clip of Trump’s verbal attack. “Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.”
CNN highlighted that Michael Haley is currently deployed in Africa with the South Carolina Army National Guard, aiding the United States Africa Command, marking his second active-duty deployment overseas.
The news outlet also underscored the absence of former first lady Melania Trump from her husband’s public campaign events since his presidential announcement in November 2022, noting her absence at his court appearances as well.
