The NYPD is on the hunt for suspects involved in a brazen shooting incident that occurred at a Bronx train and subway platform, resulting in one death and five injuries.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry described the perpetrators as ‘cowards’ and appealed to the public for help in bringing them to justice.

The incident, which unfolded at the Mount Eden subway stop on the uptown No. 4 train, left six people injured, with one fatality. Daughtry emphasized the need to apprehend the suspects to provide closure to the victims and their families.

Surveillance images of two of the three suspects have been released, with the third suspect identified but not yet publicly named. According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, the shooting occurred when the gunmen encountered members of a rival gang on the train, leading to an altercation.

Police sources revealed that a 15-year-old boy, who was shot in the thigh and right ear during the incident, is suspected to be involved in a prior non-fatal shooting north of the station and may have been the intended target of the gang members.

However, most of the victims were innocent bystanders, including Obed Beltran-Sanchez, 35, who tragically lost his life.

Chief of Patrol John Chell urged the suspects to surrender, warning that the NYPD will relentlessly pursue them until they are brought to justice. He emphasized that they will be found whether they choose to turn themselves in or not.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information to come forward and call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All information provided will be kept confidential.
