Special counsel Robert Hur, who recently decided not to prosecute President Joe Biden over his handling of classified documents after leaving office as vice president, is scheduled to testify publicly before a Republican-led House panel next month.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Hur will appear before the House Judiciary Committee on March 12, which is chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
Additionally, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) is expected to participate in the hearing. The Justice Department has not yet responded to requests for comment on Hur’s upcoming testimony.

NBC News reported that Jordan, Comer, and Rep. Jason Smith (R-Mo.), who chairs the Ways and Means Committee, wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting the full transcript of Biden’s interview with Hur.
The interview took place in October as part of the special counsel’s investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents after leaving office as vice president.
In their letter to Garland, the Republican leaders indicated that Biden’s handling of classified documents is a central focus of their impeachment inquiry into the president.
They believe that Hur’s interview and report will provide valuable information for determining whether there is sufficient evidence to draft articles of impeachment against Biden.
The House committees conducting the impeachment inquiry have been primarily focused on allegations that the Justice Department showed favoritism to Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, during an IRS investigation into his tax payments. They are also investigating whether the president was involved in his son’s overseas business dealings.
