Prince Harry has recently shared his perspective on how King Charles’s illness could serve as a catalyst for reuniting the British royal family. Speaking in an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, the prince opened up about his immediate response upon learning of his father’s cancer diagnosis, recounting how he swiftly boarded a plane to London to be by his side.
Expressing his affection for his family, Harry conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to spend some time with his father amidst the challenging circumstances.
His remarks came from Canada, where he and his wife Meghan are involved in training activities for injured military veterans leading up to the Invictus Games, an event that holds personal significance for him.
When asked whether his father’s illness could potentially mend familial rifts, Harry responded affirmatively, noting the resilience he witnesses within families facing adversity, particularly evident through his involvement with the Invictus Games.
While Harry chose to keep specifics regarding his father’s health private, he emphasized the bond between them, stating that certain matters remain solely between him and Charles.
Having stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California with Meghan and their children, Harry mentioned plans for future trips that would allow him to reconnect with his family in the UK whenever possible.
Regarding his personal status, Harry mentioned briefly contemplating American citizenship but clarified that it wasn’t currently a priority for him.
The news of Charles’s diagnosis came relatively early in his reign, succeeding the passing of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022.
