Federal agents in Russia have reportedly intervened to shut down a “My Little Pony” convention in Moscow, citing it as “LGBT propaganda,” according to government authorities.
The raid targeted the “Mi Amore Fest,” an event organized by enthusiasts of the “My Little Pony” series, as reported by Russian outlet The Insider.
Officials justified the shutdown, claiming the event contributed to the promotion of “LGBT propaganda.”
Attendees of the event shared their experience on a message board, expressing surprise and disappointment at the abrupt dispersal by authorities. One participant wrote, “Apparently, you won’t be able to get to the festival anymore. While we were drinking coffee, a squad arrived and dispersed everyone. They wrote a statement for LGBT propaganda. Well, let’s go home.”
According to The Insider’s report, Mi Amore Fest was purportedly focused on furry cosplay.
Russia’s Supreme Court had previously labeled the “international public movement of LGBT people” as extremist and banned its activities within the country’s borders.
Following this decision, the Russian media service Kinopoisk placed an “18+” age restriction label on the children’s television show due to a character named “Rainbow.”
