Following her “planned abdominal surgery” on January 16, there has been a notable concern from the public regarding the well-being of the Prince and Princess of Wales, as discussed on a British news show.
Kate’s last public appearance was on Christmas Day, and Kensington Palace has issued only two statements regarding her health since then.
The first statement, released on January 17, informed the public about her surgery and projected absence from public duties until after Easter. The subsequent statement, two weeks later, mentioned her discharge from the hospital and her ongoing recovery at home, noting her “good progress.”
Now, with the estimated recovery period halfway through and two months since her last public sighting, Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent, Jack Royston, suggested on Thursday’s Sky News that the palace should consider reassuring the public about her condition.
Royston emphasized the absence of updates or public appearances by the Princess of Wales, highlighting the importance of providing reassurance to quell any rumors circulating about her health.
Speculative reports and social media discussions have flourished since the announcement of Kate’s surgery, fueling curiosity about the nature of her medical intervention, which remains undisclosed officially.
The palace initially acknowledged the public interest in Kate’s health but emphasized her desire for privacy regarding medical details. They stated her wish for maintaining normalcy for her family and her preference for privacy regarding personal medical matters.
Although a brief update on January 29 mentioned her return home and good progress, there have been no further updates on her recovery or any underlying medical condition. This lack of information persists despite Prince William resuming public engagements while Kate recuperates at their Windsor residence.
During the annual BAFTA Film Awards, Prince William apologized for Kate’s absence and expressed his regret, mentioning that this year, they had fewer opportunities to watch nominated films together.
Apart from Kate’s health issues, the monarchy is also grappling with King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis. He is currently undergoing treatment and recently held an in-person audience with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace.
