The tragic death of 22-year-old Laken Riley, a junior studying nursing at Augusta University’s Athens campus, has sent shockwaves through the University of Georgia community and beyond.
Riley, who had previously attended UGA before transferring to Augusta University, was found slain in a wooded area on UGA’s main campus in Athens.
According to reports, the search for Riley commenced after a friend called UGA police to report that Riley, who had gone to the intramural fields for a run, had not returned.
