Ukrainian Army Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, accompanied by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, conducted a strategic visit to command posts near the front lines to assess the battlefield dynamics and fortify defenses, as stated by the top general on Sunday.
The military apparatus in Kyiv finds itself locked in a fierce struggle against Russian forces along the extensive front lines, with Moscow’s full-scale invasion entering its third year.
“We conducted a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and deliberated on the necessary steps forward, focusing primarily on safeguarding our troops against drone attacks and aerial bombings, along with bolstering specific sectors of the front,” Syrskyi shared on Telegram, along with accompanying images of himself and Umerov conferring with commanders.
While not specifying the exact timing of the visit, Syrskyi emphasized, “The situation remains intricate and demands continual vigilance.”
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian forces recently seized control of the strategically vital eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka after a protracted assault, and they continue to exert pressure on several other key areas along the front lines.
