A tragic incident unfolded in Sunford, Avonford Crescent, where a 51-year-old man lost his life on Friday night. According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal police, the victim was sitting in his car when he was ambushed and fatally shot by unknown assailants.
He was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, and the motive behind the attack remains unknown. The Phoenix police are investigating the case as a murder.
Gareth Naidoo, spokesperson for KZN VIP Security, reported that they responded to a drive-by shooting and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to stabilize him, he tragically passed away from his injuries. Witnesses indicated that a blue Toyota Corolla pulled up beside the victim’s vehicle, fired several shots, and then fled the scene. Multiple bullet cartridges were recovered at the scene.
In a separate incident in Montclair, in the Durban south area, two men in their 30s were fatally shot and another individual was wounded in a similar drive-by shooting. The victims were also sitting in a vehicle when they were attacked by suspects in another vehicle.
The two men died at the scene. These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges of gun violence and crime in the region, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to address these issues and ensure the safety of residents.
