German authorities announced the arrest of Daniela Klette, a former member of the disbanded left-wing militant group Red Army Faction, who had been on the run for over 30 years. The arrest took place in Berlin on Monday evening, according to reports from Bild, which cited unidentified security sources.
Prosecutors in the northern town of Verden confirmed the arrest of Klette, aged 65, but provided limited details at the time. Klette is one of three former Red Army Faction members who have been sought by police for years.
Alongside Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg, Klette has been linked to at least 12 robberies in northern Germany between 1999 and 2016, as well as being sought for attempted murder.

While the Red Army Faction was known for its left-wing militant activities, authorities suspect that the motive behind these robberies was financial gain rather than any political agenda.
The group’s activities had previously included bombings, assassinations, and kidnappings during the 1970s and 1980s, but it had largely disbanded by the early 1990s.
The arrest of Klette marks a significant development in the efforts to apprehend former members of the Red Army Faction who have remained elusive for decades.
It underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement agencies to pursue individuals involved in criminal activities, even after many years have passed since the crimes were committed.
