In a startling incident in central London, a double-decker bus crashed into a pub, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The Metropolitan Police were alerted to the scene at New Oxford Street, near Tottenham Court Road, at 10:16 am on Tuesday.
Responding swiftly, the London Ambulance Service (LAS) received the call at 10:10 am and had their first paramedic on-site within approximately five minutes.
LAS immediately treated the injured. One person was taken to the hospital, while the other was treated at the scene and discharged.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was also summoned to the crash site, receiving the call at 10:11 am. Two fire engines and fire and rescue units from Soho, Euston, and Battersea fire stations rushed to the scene to assist.
The cause of the crash and the extent of the damage to the pub and the bus remain under investigation. Eyewitnesses reported a chaotic scene, with debris scattered and emergency services swiftly responding to the incident.
