Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, both Republicans, criticized the address, with Cramer calling it the worst he had ever heard.
Cramer described Biden as “an unhinged, angry, bitter old man” who failed to take responsibility for his actions and instead blamed others. He expressed hope for a change in the White House, suggesting that the nation needs to “keep it together” until then.

Hoeven also criticized Biden’s administration, stating that it is leading the country in the wrong direction with its “big government policies.”
He highlighted challenges faced by families due to rising costs and criticized Biden for failing to enforce laws, particularly at the southern border, which has led to a crisis with record numbers of illegal crossings. Hoeven also expressed concerns about the increasing aggression of U.S. adversaries such as Russia, China, and Iran.

During his address, Biden covered a wide range of topics, including the economy, his age, the U.S.-Mexico border, abortion, taxation on large corporations, and foreign aid to countries like Israel and Ukraine. He spoke passionately and at times raised his voice in response to hecklers.
The differing reactions to Biden’s address highlight the deep political divides in the country, with Republicans critical of his policies and approach, while Democrats generally support his agenda.
