Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, acknowledged altering a family photo featuring herself and her three children, which was shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts on Mothering Sunday in the U.K.
Her acknowledgment, circulated widely on social media, followed the withdrawal of the image by several news agencies over suspicions of manipulation.
The edited photo has since sparked numerous conspiracy theories globally, with speculation swirling around Kate’s well-being and activities. Her absence from public engagements since undergoing planned abdominal surgery in January has only fueled further speculation.
Even Dutch King Willem-Alexander appears to be aware of the situation. During a recent visit to Zutphen in the Netherlands, he encountered schoolchildren wearing crowns and waving Dutch flags.
When one child mentioned “a photograph with your whole family,” the King reportedly quipped, “Really? At least I didn’t photoshop it,” eliciting laughter from the audience.
In contrast to the British Royal Family, the Dutch Royal Family is often perceived as more approachable. Dutch royal children attend regular schools, and the adults are known to hold regular jobs.
King Willem-Alexander himself previously disclosed that he worked as a commercial airline pilot for KLM for over 21 years on a part-time basis.
Despite any differences, the Dutch and British royal families maintain a good relationship. They have been photographed together at various events, including the Order of the Garter service and Ascot in 2019.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended King Charles III’s coronation ceremony in May last year.
