Lara Trump, who recently assumed the role of co-chair at the Republican National Committee (RNC), announced on March 14 her interest in recruiting Scott Presler, a right-wing influencer known for promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory, organizing “Stop the Steal” events, and participating in the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, for the RNC’s “legal ballot harvesting division.”
Presler has a history of promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory and has been associated with Act for America, an organization characterized by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an “anti-Muslim hate group.” His involvement with the RNC raises concerns about the party’s alignment with far-right figures.
In addition to Presler, Christina Bobb, a pro-Trump attorney formerly associated with OAN, has been appointed by the RNC as “senior counsel for election integrity.”
Bobb’s hiring underscores the RNC’s focus on bolstering its efforts related to election integrity, despite criticism from some quarters regarding her partisan background.
Presler’s past appearances on platforms like Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, where he criticized former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, further highlight his involvement in the political sphere and his alignment with Trump-aligned factions within the Republican Party.
Including figures like Presler and Bobb within the RNC’s ranks reflects ongoing shifts within the party and its approach to electoral strategy, with implications for its future direction and messaging.
