Rapper Offset visited Dunbar High School in Baltimore on March 12 to recognize the students’ exceptional academic achievements. He was impressed by their stellar attendance and hard work throughout the school year and wanted to show his appreciation.
Teaming up with footwear retailer DTLR and kitchen space LA Chow, Offset provided the students and their families with over $30,000 worth of groceries and gift cards.
This generous gesture coincided with his upcoming Fillmore in Silver Spring performance, adding to the event’s excitement.
The Baltimore Police Department took to social media to commend Offset for his generosity, highlighting the positive impact of his initiative.
Specifically, Offset recognized Dunbar High School senior Cadrn Bowie, who had been accepted into an impressive 40 colleges. Coverage of Offset’s charitable act spread quickly, with platforms like The Shade Room sharing a video of his visit on Instagram.
The footage captured Offset distributing groceries from a truck and surprising students with an impromptu meet-and-greet in the auditorium. On stage, he congratulated Caden Bowie and applauded all the students for their dedication to their studies.
After his departure from the rap group Migos, Offset’s solo tour includes a stop at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. The group, consisting of Quavo and Takeoff, faced tragedy when Takeoff passed away in 2020 in Houston.
