The extensive media coverage of President Trump’s legal troubles has made many Americans perceive the four felony charges against him as justified and grounded in factual evidence.
However, a closer examination of the results from March’s I&I/TIPP Poll reveals that Democrats predominantly hold this sentiment.
The national online poll, conducted from February 28 to March 1, surveyed 1,419 registered voters nationwide. Participants were asked whether they believed the legal actions against former President Trump, consisting of four major indictments with 91 charges, were warranted based on facts.

The options provided were: warranted, unfair and intended to undermine the presidential election, not sure, or none of the above. The responses showed that 47% of voters considered the charges warranted and fact-based, while 38% viewed them as unfair and orchestrated to undermine the 2024 presidential election.

The margin of error for the responses was +/-2.7 percentage points. However, does this settle the matter? Do Americans overwhelmingly support subjecting Trump to a series of potentially damaging trials, given the numerous charges brought against him in the past two years, especially as he contemplates another presidential run?
Not quite. Analyzing the March data reveals that 47% of respondents believe the charges are valid, 14% are uncertain, and 2% selected “none of the above.” Thus, a slight majority (52%) consider the charges unfair and politically motivated or undecided.
