The Queen conveyed reassuring news about the King’s health as she concluded her visit to Northern Ireland. During her engagements in Belfast on Thursday, Camilla was presented with a get-well card for her husband, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

Later in the day, at an event in Hillsborough Castle, Northern Ireland’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill extended her regards to Charles while shaking hands with Camilla.

The Queen also met with Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly at the same event, exchanging pleasantries and well wishes for the King’s recovery.

Both ministers, who assumed office earlier this year after the revival of devolved government in Northern Ireland, expressed their sentiments toward Charles and the Princess of Wales, wishing them both well during the Queen’s visit.

During her time at the castle, Camilla celebrated World Poetry Day by enjoying spoken-word performances and engaging with authors, actors, and performers.

Hosted by poet Paul Muldoon, the event showcased Northern Ireland’s rich poetry and literature, featuring contributions from notable figures such as Derry Girls actor Ian McElhinney and contemporary poet Michael Longley.

Earlier in the day, the Queen received a warm welcome from well-wishers on the bustling Lisburn Road in south Belfast. She visited local businesses, including Coffey’s Butchers, The Arcadia Deli, and Knotts Bakery, where she interacted with staff and accepted gifts on behalf of Charles.

Camilla expressed her husband’s appreciation for the local treats and joked about his eagerness to enjoy them. During her visit to The Arcadia, Camilla graciously accepted a get-well card for Charles and assured the well-wisher that he was making good progress.

She also shared a light-hearted moment with a young boy at Knotts Bakery, where she received more gifts to enjoy later. Camilla visited an army base in her role as Colonel-in-Chief of The Rifles. She participated in a pass-off parade for junior non-commissioned officers, further showcasing her engagement with the community during her time in Northern Ireland.

The Queen’s visit to Northern Ireland comes when Charles has temporarily stepped back from public duties due to his ongoing treatment. Camilla represented the royal family with grace and warmth despite his absence, leaving a lasting impression on those she encountered during her visit.
