Following the acceptance of special prosecutor Nathan Wade’s resignation last week, as part of an agreement permitting her to continue prosecuting the election subversion case involving Donald Trump, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is asserting several key points.
In an interview on Saturday, Willis emphasized that the Wade hearing did not impede preparations for Trump’s imminent trial, which she aims to commence sometime during the summer, warning, “The train is coming.”
Addressing the matter while attending an Easter egg hunt organized by WAVE, an organization of law enforcement officers dedicated to assisting children and the homeless, Willis openly discussed her previous romantic involvement with Wade, while expressing pointed remarks regarding Trump.

“I don’t feel the need to redeem my reputation,” she stated. “Let’s state it plainly, I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve done. Perhaps my greatest ‘crime’ is having a relationship with a man. That’s not something I consider embarrassing in any way. And I am confident that I haven’t engaged in anything illegal.”
CNN noted that the racketeering case faced a two-month delay, but Willis underscored that the primary case remained unaffected, as her team consistently worked on it.
“Throughout that period, we continued drafting responses and briefs,” Willis affirmed. “We maintained our focus on the case’s demands. I don’t perceive any slowdown in our progress. There are attempts to hinder this process, but the momentum is unstoppable.”
