The UK spoke up during Germany’s review at the Human Rights Council on March 25, 2024.
The UK thanked the President and appreciated Germany’s participation in its review. They praised Germany, along with government officials, local representatives, and community groups, for investigating all 346 suggestions to ensure they fit with German society’s needs.
The UK was happy to hear that Germany is all for treating workers equally. They liked hearing about Germany’s Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, which tries to stop bad things from happening to people in its supply chains.
The UK felt good about Germany’s actions after it agreed to the ILO Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190). However, the UK wants to know more about what Germany has done since then.
The UK was curious about how Germany’s Feminist Foreign Policy affects what it does to support human rights in other countries. They thought it was great that Germany cared about democracy and human rights.
The UK sees them as partners with the same values and wants to keep working on these important issues. The UK thanked Germany for participating in the review and for all the work it does to protect human rights.
