Propertymark is happy that Julie James got picked again as the Welsh Housing Minister. Timothy Douglas, who works for Propertymark, says they’re trying hard to set up a first meeting to discuss housing problems in Wales.
“We’re really glad to see another special minister for housing. We’ve said before that it’s really important because Wales has some big housing problems coming up,” Douglas said.
“We’re also pleased Julie James is still in charge of housing. It means things stay the same, which is good. “But Julie James needs to use this chance to listen to what people in the property industry are worried about and stop the idea of rent controls in Wales.
“The minister also needs to work with other parts of the government to ensure more homes are available. This could mean looking again at the taxes people pay when buying extra properties and helping make homes more environmentally friendly. We’ve been asking for a Welsh Housing Survey for a long time. It would help us get better information to make decisions in the future.”
