The Israeli military targeted and killed Ismail al-Zin, a senior commander in Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile unit, in a recent airstrike in southern Lebanon. The strike, which occurred in the village of Kounine, was confirmed by the Israeli military, who described al-Zin as a significant figure responsible for numerous anti-tank missile attacks against Israeli targets. Hezbollah acknowledged al-Zin’s death in a statement on Telegram but did not confirm his affiliation with the Radwan unit.
Since October 7, when Hamas initiated an attack on southern Israel, Hezbollah and Israeli forces have engaged in regular exchanges of fire. Israel has targeted Hezbollah members, including those in the Radwan unit, resulting in the deaths of approximately 270 militants, including high-ranking commanders.
Among the casualties was Wissam Tawil, a senior officer in Hezbollah who played a key role in directing operations in southern Lebanon.

The conflict has also inflicted civilian casualties on both sides, with around 50 Lebanese civilians, including children, medics, and journalists, killed by Israeli shelling. Additionally, tens of thousands of people have been displaced in southern Lebanon and northern Israel due to the fighting.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for seven attacks on Israeli troops, targeting newly developed spy equipment near the Lebanese border and releasing videos showing their strikes on Israeli soldiers and military buildings.
Efforts to de-escalate tensions and seek a diplomatic resolution to the conflict have been ongoing, with the United States and other countries involved in mediation. However, Hezbollah has reiterated its stance that it will not cease fire until a ceasefire is implemented in Gaza.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant affirmed the country’s commitment to continue operations against Hezbollah, vowing to retaliate for every attack originating from Lebanon. The situation remains tense, raising concerns about the potential for further escalation in the region.
