Deputy First Minister Ms. Emma Little-Pengelly has launched two new Redbay Stormforce 1150 RIBs, a move expected to bolster trade, tourism, and connections between Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
The announcement boosts tourism and the economy locally with the introduction of two new Redbay Boats Stormforce1150 Passenger-Carrying RIBs for Kintyre Express (Campbeltown) and Venture West (Crinan). These boats were displayed at Ballycastle Marina on Thursday.
This marks the 6th boat acquisition from Redbay Boats by Kintyre Express in the last 13 years, highlighting their ongoing support for manufacturing in Northern Ireland.
Tom McLaughlin, Managing Director of Redbay Boats Limited, expressed excitement about collaborating with Venture West and Kintyre Express to introduce the Stormforce 1150.
He emphasized the partnership’s commitment to promoting tourism and fostering connections between Scotland’s West Coast and Northern Ireland, anticipating enhanced travel experiences, economic growth, and cultural exchange in both regions.
Colin Craig, Managing Director of Kintyre Express, shared his enthusiasm for receiving the new KE6 from Redbay Boats, seeing it as a pivotal moment for Kintyre Express.
He believes this investment will not only improve their service but also strengthen the essential links between Scotland and Northern Ireland. The aim is to offer more frequent crossings and reinforce economic and cultural ties between the communities.
Sandy Campbell, Managing Director of Venture West, expressed delight in continuing their long-standing partnership with Redbay Boats, highlighting this as their second 1150m model in operation.
As a prominent tourism operator specializing in adventure travel, Venture West plans to leverage the Stormforce 1150 to offer unforgettable experiences along Scotland’s rugged coastline, contributing to the tourism sector and regional connectivity.
