Following a devastating earthquake in Taiwan, a wave of condolences and offers of support have poured in from allied nations and countries aligned with Taiwan’s cause.
The United States has expressed its readiness to assist, with the State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller announcing that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) personnel are on high alert for any earthquake and tsunami warnings. They stand prepared to coordinate efforts with the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) to offer the necessary support.
The outpouring of support transcends political lines within the U.S., as members from both parties in Congress have voiced their solidarity. Senator Jim Risch and Congressman Brad Sherman, alongside other congressional representatives, have advocated for Taiwan’s swift recovery.
Risch emphasized the importance of the United States and Taiwan’s international allies rallying to aid Taiwan through this challenging time and assisting in its reconstruction efforts.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from Canada has assured that his nation stands ready to lend a helping hand, confirming that Canadian officials are in touch with their Taiwanese counterparts to coordinate support.
Similarly, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Parnpree Bahiddha-Ankara, extended heartfelt condolences and expressed hopes for rapid rebuilding efforts in Taiwan.
This global response highlights the international community’s commitment to assisting Taiwan in the aftermath of the natural disaster, underscoring the solidarity and support Taiwan enjoys on the global stage.
