Former President Donald Trump is on the brink of setting a new benchmark in political fundraising with a lavish $50 million dinner this Saturday. The event will boost the Republican Party’s financial resources as the presidential election looms just seven months away.
Scheduled to be held at the Palm Beach mansion of hedge fund manager John Paulson, located a stone’s throw away from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, this exclusive fundraiser is anticipated to surpass President Joe Biden’s $25 million record from a March 28 event at Radio City Music Hall. According to campaign insiders, this gathering will mark a historic financial milestone for a single event.
Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, highlighted the importance of this achievement, stating, “While it took three Democrat presidents to amass $25 million, Donald J. Trump alone is on course to raise over $50 million. This impressive feat underscores the GOP’s unity behind Trump in overcoming Joe Biden, showcasing active participation across the board.”
John Paulson, the billionaire host of the event, expressed his astonishment at the sheer magnitude of support from GOP donors, noting an “overwhelming” level of enthusiasm from a diverse array of contributors.
Dubbed the “Inaugural Leadership Dinner,” insiders have termed this occasion a pivotal “come-home-to-Trump moment,” signaling the first GOP fundraiser since Trump secured the party’s nomination. This event serves as a platform for high-profile Republicans to demonstrate their allegiance following a heated primary season.
Three former presidential contenders—Vivek Ramaswamy, Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum—will attend the dinner as “special guests,” signifying a gesture of party cohesion.
Some of the event’s co-chairs, including hospitality mogul Robert Bigelow and oil tycoon Harold Hamm, were previously aligned with Trump’s primary opponents, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Ticket prices for this exclusive gathering range from $250,000 to $814,600 per attendee. It promises an intimate reception and dinner at Paulson’s lavish $110 million waterfront residence. Among the distinguished guests are WWE co-founder Linda McMahon, hotelier Steve Wynn, former Senator Kelly Loeffler, and hedge fund titan Robert Mercer.
The proceeds from this high-ticket event will be primarily allocated to the Republican National Committee and various state Republican parties through a joint fundraising agreement.
The initial $6,600 per ticket will benefit Trump’s campaign directly, and the subsequent $5,000 will support a leadership PAC responsible for covering his legal expenses. This strategic fundraising initiative underscores a concerted effort to fortify the GOP’s financial standing ahead of the forthcoming electoral battle.
