Treasury Minister Gareth Davies emphasized the seriousness of the situation and encouraged those affected to seek assistance from law enforcement. The se*xting scam, described as “spear phishing,” involves scammers posing as trusted individuals to obtain personal or sensitive information.

The revelation follows speculation fueled by reports that various current and former parliamentarians had been contacted by an unknown number on WhatsApp, with attempts made to extract personal or sensitive information.
