Donald Trump has accused Democrats of endangering Social Security and Medicare by allowing a giant influx of migrants into the country. In a post on Truth Social, the former president criticized President Joe Biden’s administration and pledged to protect these social and medical insurance programs.
Trump’s comments come despite ongoing concerns about the migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. In December 2023, the U.S. Border Patrol recorded 249,735 migrant encounters, marking the highest monthly total on record.

In a video post on Wednesday, Trump asserted, “Unlike the Democrats who are killing Social Security and Medicare by allowing the invasion of migrants into our country—it’s an absolute, like a military invasion—I will not, under any circumstances, allow either of these two precious gems to be even touched under a Trump administration.”
He emphasized his commitment to maintaining Social Security and Medicare benefits unchanged, contrasting this with what he sees as the Biden administration’s failure to safeguard these programs due to its immigration policies.
Trump has consistently linked Biden’s immigration approach with the potential impacts of Social Security and Medicare. At a Green Bay, Wisconsin campaign rally, he highlighted the border situation’s possible consequences for American seniors’ benefits.

His campaign team echoed these sentiments on Truth Social, warning that if Biden’s immigration policies lead to millions of migrants staying in the country, it could result in considerable costs to taxpayers and strain on Medicare and Social Security.
While Trump initially appeared to suggest the possibility of cuts to Social Security and Medicaid during a call-in to CNBC’s Squawk Box program, he later clarified to Breitbart that he would never take actions that could jeopardize these programs.
Efforts to obtain comments from the presidential campaign teams of Trump and Biden outside of regular working hours are ongoing, as per Newsweek’s inquiry.
