During an interview with Newsmax, Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona discussed the Department of Justice’s refusal to provide the audiotape of former special counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Joe Biden regarding the classified documents investigation.
Biggs asserted that if the DOJ continues to withhold this information, there will be no choice but to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.
Biggs, a member of the House Oversight Committee, highlighted the importance of the audiotapes, noting that they provide a more accurate portrayal of the interview than transcripts.
He suggested that DOJ officials are hesitant to release the audiotapes because they fear they may confirm suspicions that Biden either willfully withheld classified information or is mentally incompetent.
When asked about his stance on potentially ousting House Speaker Mike Johnson, Biggs expressed disappointment with some of Johnson’s actions but stopped short of making a definitive statement.
He emphasized the need for good policies that align with Republican priorities and criticized Johnson for bringing Ukraine funding to a House vote, which Biggs viewed as perpetuating bad policy that could hinder efforts to support Donald Trump’s election.
Biggs emphasized the importance of pursuing policies that resonate with Republican values and warned against actions that could undermine these efforts.
